1/26/09

Well, here's the final blur picture. Here, my sister just flailed around while the camera stood still, so she came out blurred while the background should be crisp.

I also want to take this opportunity to say that these may be my last pictures for a while seeing as that this semester's coming to an end and I need to work on the final.

1/22/09

I'm back again with photos on caffeine. This time, I focused on blurring motion, making one piece of the picture blurred on purpose while the rest of the picture is clear.
Here is my negative. Some of the pictures are blacked out due to the inability to post easily seen people online.
I finished printing 2 pictures, thus here they are. I'll point out the object of blur along the way.

In this case, the blurred motion is the background, while following my sister on the bike so that she's for the most part, in focus.

Again, I blurred the background while the bike handles stayed relatively still in the perspective of the camera. Yes, this was done with no hands.

Thus concludes what I have so far, but expect more prints in the near future.

P.S. The negatives were EXTREMELY dirty, so the pictures you see here were heavily edited to remove dirt and scratches.

Welcome to the new year (Rootbeer)! I know I haven't posted anything since forever-ago, but I *am* still alive. I recently finished printing my motion blur pictures, so those will be posted soon along with the negatives.

Those who understand anything about film, something funny happened today:
I put the negative in the enlarger and the ending print ended up still being negative, anyone can explain?  =P

12/12/08 (My Birthday)

Continuing digital multi-exposure, I finished the other two. Once these are uploaded, I'll be making multi-exposures using an enlarger and the negatives of my pictures. For now, though, enjoy.

Playing with photoshop for digital multi-exposure

Well, I brought two small pictures together (my scarecrow and me) in photoshop and did a little bit of opacity and threshold work. I will have more later, but here's what you get for now. Pictures a few posts back will be enlarged later, possibly today. Fo now, enjoy the photoshop (go Corel!)

12/4/08

Well, it's been a while since I've updated, but between being sick and working on another project, I haven't had a whole ton of time to post. Currently, my latest project is drying from the developing and will be put into a single contact sheet Monday. This last project, we were supposed to focus close in on the human face, but my camera didn't like that so well since I used a 75-300 mm lens. Also, I couldn't fill all of my film with the pictures due to the fact I accidentally left my camera in my locker. So, around Wednesday, expect another update with the contact sheet, or not since we can't display faces...well, I'll probably sneak my extra pictures then.

That time has come!

You finally get some of my pictures with a brief summary of why they are what they are.
First off, before we even got our cameras together, we learned to take pictures with a CAN! Canera... It was the pinhole project where we had a can with a small hole drilled in it to let in a little light. Inside, we placed light sensitive paper. We would uncover the hole to reveal the scenery to the paper and depending on how bright it was, we would leave it uncovered anywhere between 1 second and 3 minutes. It was around this time also, we were JUST learning to develop light-sensitive paper.
This is the result: a negative.
(Though this was a bad picture, I can't find my other photos.)

Eventually, we learned how to turn these into positives with just light. So here was the result:

About a week later, we finally started running our cameras. Our first project with them was to find a visual metaphor for the following words:

High Point
Familiar
Too Much
12 Midnight
The End
Love
Three
Contemplation
Warning!
Electric
Sharp
Red
Reflection
Movement
Soft
Cold
Closed
New/Old
Single
Oversized
Intimidating
Hot
Energy
Music
Community
Shadow

Heres just a glimpse of some of the pictures I took for this project:
(These are the expanded versions)

Now that we had some experience with the cameras, we started getting more restrictions. In this project, we were supposed to work with leading lines. I didn't do anything fancy...

I missed the next project, but we focused on different types of lighting: Silhouette, Direct, and Diffused.
We recently took pictures OF OURSELVES. We weren't allowed to include anyone we knew, no one could take the picture for us. Due to safety reasons, only one of these photos are allowed to be posted, so here you have it.

Just a couple of days ago, we were supposed to take 24 pictures of one object at different angles to make the viewer look at an object differently. I selected a camera, but my lens sucks with close-range pictures, so most  of these are blurry. If there's enough time after posting this, I'll probably make an enlarged picture or two of this project.
